Scoring System
Details on how category scores are computed, severity deductions, and category weights in the overall score formula.
Details
Base score and deductions
Every category starts at 100 points (with one exception — see Performance below). Issues found during the audit deduct points based on severity:
• Critical −20 pts
• Warning −10 pts
• Info −2 pts
The minimum category score is 0. Multiple issues of the same type stack, so two critical issues in one category deduct 40 pts.
Category weights
The overall score is the weighted average across 10 categories:
• Technical SEO 15%
• On-Page SEO 15%
• Content Quality 10%
• Links 10%
• Architecture 10%
• Structured Data 10%
• Trust Signals (EEAT) 10%
• AI Readiness 10%
• Indexability 7.5%
• Performance 2.5%
Why these weights
Technical SEO and On-Page SEO are the highest-weighted because they directly control whether a page can be crawled, indexed, and understood by search engines. Performance has the lowest weight (2.5%) because Google's Core Web Vitals signals have a measurable but smaller impact compared to content and technical fundamentals.
Performance: special scoring rule
The Performance category is the only one that does NOT start at 100. Instead, the base score is the Google PageSpeed Insights score (0–100). Additional deductions are applied for server response time >3 seconds (−10 pts) and PageSpeed API errors (−2 pts).
This means a page with a PageSpeed score of 50 starts the Performance category at 50, not 100. If PageSpeed data is unavailable (e.g. the check was skipped), the category falls back to the standard 100-minus-deductions model.
Severity assignment rules
Each tool generates issues, and the scoring engine assigns severity levels based on the specific finding:
• Links: >5 broken links → critical; 1–5 → warning
• Trust Signals: missing HTTPS → critical; everything else → warning
• AI Readiness: missing Entity Schema, sameAs, FAQ schema → warning; all other signals → info; all AI bots blocked → critical
• Architecture: missing HSTS or Cache-Control → warning; other header issues → info
• Indexability: noindex present → critical; everything else → warning; missing IndexNow → info
• On-Page: missing title/H1 → critical; other title/meta/heading issues → warning
• Site infrastructure: robots.txt not blocking sensitive paths → info (−2 pts, not −10)
